Le Clos des Suds is a small family-run
vineyard that is firmly grounded in the traditions of yesteryear, operating
with a deep respect for nature while employing modern techniques where
applicable to maximize the distinctive taste of our special wines. Nestled on
six hectares of preserved land, the vineyard sits comfortably surrounded by ‘La
Garrigue’ in a very wild, natural environment and is uniquely located at the
heart of an exceptional site. Le Clos des Suds is on the foothills of the
Massif Central (Black Mountain) at the crossroads of the St Chinian, St Jean de
Minervois, and Minervois appellations. The vines are located in the latter
appellation at an altitude of between 250 and 300 meters.
What makes Le Clos des Suds different from so
many other vineyards is very simple. Our wine is excellent thanks to the
quality, strength and age of our vines and the traditional techniques we use to
bring out the very best from our grapes. And, we believe, our hard work and
passion about getting each step just right throughout the whole process is what
makes the difference. We love working with old vines that are well adapted to
our region, though not always commonly recognized today. As such, some of our
wines are marketed as Vin de Pays du Val de Cesse due the age and complexity of
our vines, not the quality or taste of our wines.
